On Monday Sydney Pollack, 73, died of cancer. The Academy Award-winner started his carerr in New York theater before moving west to direct television. When going on to movies, he worked together with a young Robert Redford who he befriended straight away. They eventually worked together on seven films including “Out Of Africa”.
He directed some fascinating films altogether, including “Tootsie”, which won 10 Academy Award, “The Interpreter” with Nicole Kidman and “The Talented Mr. Ripley” with Matt Damon. He also produced and starred in “Michael Clayton” and most recently worked with Patrick Dempsey in “Made of Honor”.

So sad!

She may already speculate with becoming a real princess of even the queen! Aynway, Prince William’s girlfriend doesn’t want to be called Kate anymore. Her real first name is Catherine after all and that’s what Miss Middleton wants to be called from now on.
Some papers, like the “Daily Mail” instantly spot new indications for an approaching engagement of William and Kate, sorry, Catherine.
Prince William is number two in the line of succession and it’s very likely for him to become king one day. And his wife would then be queen of course. However, William’s girlfriend is anything but happy with “Queen Kate” and would much rather like to be called “Queen Catherine”. And according to friends she is actually called Catherine in her family. She’s only “become” Kate because the papers called her so when her relationship with the prince became public in 2004.

Great Britain aghast at a new bloody deed: the 18 year-old actor Robert Knox was stabbed to death in front of a pub in Sidcup, in southeast London. Robert, who has a part in the new Harry Potter film, wanted to protect his younger brother who was involved in an argument about a mobile phone. He edged himself in between of his brother and an attacker. Three other young men, including Knox’s friend Dean Saunders, 21, received considerable injuries. Saunders is in hospital with a stab wound at his neck while the other two are out of the hospital again.

Ever since she left the O.C. Mischa Barton’s career is on the brink. But now it seems like there is a new career out there for Mischa. She’s coming out with her own line of handbags in July. However, the bags will only be available in the UK, are inspired by the vintage style and are apparently all drawn by Mischa herself.

The next celeb is in rehab. Steven Tyler, 60, checked into “Las Encinas Hospital” in Californa by choice. It’s not clear whether he’s treated for alkohol, drugs or tablets.
What has happened? Tyler was famous for his drug antics in the 70s and 80s but always affirmed to have been clean for the last 20 years.

By the way, next month there will be shot a reality show in this exact rehab clinic which will be called “Celebrity Rehab”.

It’s true! Robert Redford, who is already 71, has become engaged to his long-term girlfriend Sibylle Szaggars. He’s been with the German artist since 1996and probably enjoys the relationship so much because she keeps him young. Sibylle’s only 52, you see!
Anyway, it’s quite a surprise that he’s gone public with the news. After all, he kept his divorce from his first wife Lola Van Wagenen secret for almost 10 years.

On Wednesday Adam Sandler told on the Jay Leno Show that his wife is expecting again.The happy parents already have a daughter called Sadie, 2, and are thrilled to welcome a new kid to their family.

He is one of the most successful music managers of all times and the string-puller behind bands like the Backstreet Boys, N’Sync and US5. But now it doesn’t look that good for Lou Pearlman, 53, anymore. He was sentenced to 25 years by a judge in Florida. Why? Fraud! Apparently, Pearlman defrauded investors and banks of $ 300.000- at least.

There’s only one way to avoid 25 years in jail: for each million that he pays a vic he will get one month off his sentence. If he cannot get the money he will be in until 2033. He will be 78 by then!
